Our Story

While some of our team members have been working in the Saskatoon area for over 25 years, North 49 itself opened in 2010. With opening North 49 the goal was to improve the lives of individuals in the Saskatoon community who were dealing with physical problems such as pain and dizziness. Too many unfortunately have these physical conditions affect their quality of life as they are unaware of what they can do about it. To address this North 49 has focused on developing services to meet the needs of the community, has invested in training team members so they can address these needs, and has taken steps to improve the public awareness of these services. 

Over the years our team and service streams have continued to increase, but our biggest growth has consistently been in the field of vestibular therapy. In 2010 we had one physical therapist and we now have five with well over half of the case load consisting of individuals with dizziness and/or balance problems. To increase our impact in Saskatchewan, since 2019 we have also been utilizing telehealth services to reach those in rural and remote regions. 

That brings us to our next step. In order to make a bigger impact on the health and quality of lives of others we realize that there is a need to train other health care providers, especially in the area of vestibular therapy.
